For my midterm essay I will be analyzing one or two of the many posters that have been made in response to our failed immigration policy and in support of the dream act. Many of these posters grapple with issues of gender, sexuality, and undocumented status. They seek to legitimize marginalized people's right to be in this country. I think they are particularly interesting because of the way they highlight the importance of intersectionality and because they are trying to redefine who has the a right to citizenship - therefore who is American. I would like to analyze how it is they are trying to redefine who is American.
